TWEENS & TEENS

Adolescence is a period in human development of many changes. Adolescents are moving towards greater independence, exploring who they are and who they want to be.  Whether your tween or teen is experiencing normal life adjustments or struggling with more chronic conditions, I offer a collaborative and tailored treatment plan and interventions.

My approach with tweens and teens tries to be compassion and non-judgement first and foremost. I believe rapport and connection are the most powerful tool when working with this age group. I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and specialize in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), expressive arts interventions, and mindfulness. I can collaborate with their school and other providers when pertinent and with consent from parents and teen.
I tend to connect well with those teens labeled as difficult or stuck. I work especially well with teens:
  • who are struggling with anxiety and/or depression;
  • experiencing conflict with parents or peers;
  • isolating from family or peers;
  • grappling with identity or apathy/motivation;
  • thoughts of death or suicide;
  • frequent mood swings;
  • low self-esteem;
  • LGBTQIA+
I have had success empowering teens to make better decisions for themselves, feel connected, and start down a healthier path.
