Therapy for
Teens & Tweens

Ages 13–18

Life as a teenager can be a rollercoaster of emotions, and navigating these ups and downs isn't always easy. Whether your tween or teen is experiencing normal life adjustments or struggling with more chronic conditions, I offer a collaborative and tailored treatment plan and interventions.

Compassion and Non-judgement

My approach with tweens and teens tries to be compassion and non-judgement first and foremost. I believe rapport and connection are the most powerful tool when working with this age group. Within the established relationship, I am here to facilitate growth and healing.

I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), play therapy, expressive arts interventions, and mindfulness. I can collaborate with their school and other providers when pertinent and with consent from parents and teen.

Two women sitting on a wooden bench in a backyard, holding drinks and conversing with each other against a brick wall. One woman has curly dark hair and is wearing a light-colored blouse, and the other has blonde hair and is wearing a denim jacket.
A group of four diverse young people are standing outdoors, engaging in conversation. The focus is on a young man with curly hair and a goatee, wearing a white and navy blue baseball tee, smiling and talking to a young woman in a bright yellow dress with wavy, shoulder-length hair. Two other women are partially visible, one with blonde hair and another with platinum blonde hair, listening to the conversation. They are on steps with greenery in the background.

I tend to connect well with those teens labeled as difficult, stuck, and/or quirky.

I work especially well with teens:

  • who are struggling with anxiety and/or depression;

  • experiencing conflict with parents or peers;

  • isolating from family or peers;

  • grappling with identity;

  • thoughts of death or suicide;

  • frequent mood swings;

  • low self-esteem;

  • exploring their gender identity;

  • learning about their neurodiversity;

  • LGBTQIA+

I have had success empowering teens to make better decisions for themselves, feel connected, and start down a healthier path.
